HERSHEY — A debate’s been raging around Aliquippa over the past few weeks. Some Fighting Quips fans think this may be the best team in the school’s storied history; others think it was the 2003 team, which won a state championship.
There’s no debate about the best Class AA team in the state: Wyomissing put that one to rest Saturday with an electrifying 17-14 victory over the Quips in the PIAA championship game at Hersheypark Stadium.
“We knew a little about their ‘legend,’ ” said Spartans coach Bob Wolfrum of the Quips, “but that just made our kids want to (win it more). We like to take on big teams.”
Battlefields are part of our national heritage, scenes of struggle and sacrifice where American soldiers lost their lives. The Civil War Trust is working to preserve these “hallowed grounds,” as Abraham Lincoln called them, so that future generations can learn from them and can learn to appreciate their hard-won freedom.
Help preserve these lands by donating to the Civil War Trust. Go to CivilWar.org for more information.
